So in case you didn't hear, the magical mystery tour took us to Costa Rica for 9 days and we had a blast.
This is us on our carraige ride to the party. It was fun and we got to wave to everybody like we were in a parade.
OK....so off to Costa Rica. And in case your wondering what people look like when taking the red eye flight after a big party...
....its not pretty, but we got there and had champagne waiting for us. So a toast to us!
Kresta just had 2 requests about where we stayed. She wanted a view of the ocean from our room and a swim up bar. This is the view from our room.
The first day, Sunday, we were really tired so we just hung around the cabana. The second day we got massages in a cabana looking out over the ocean...
When we walked out of the spa we me pepe...the Hilton's own pet Iguana. He hangs out around the spa and pool ever day just waiting to be fed....so of course Kresta fed him. I took pictures of him through glass :) 
We spent a lot of time around the "adults only" pool - too many kids (and people) at the regular pool. The place was all inclusive so of course we started drinking the minute we got there and kept a nice healthy buzz most of the time.
The next day (tues) we decided to be a little more active. We drove like 2 hours into the rainforest to go on a canopy tour, 1300 ft water slide, and go to some natural hot springs.
Kresta was amazing on the canopy tour. I however, couldn't figure out how to slow down, so after the 3rd zip line and almost breaking my leg I had to get what they call a "taxi" to get back. A taxi is where you ride with one of the guys that works there so that you don't have to do any work. I had much more fun this way. Kresta, however, finished all the zip's and looked like a pro doing it. This is the video of her on the last zip.
After the zip lines we went down the waterslide. By this point in the rain forest its been raining all morning, so the water slide isn't looking all that great, plus the water is freezing. But we did it anyway. They have a guy that takes pictures and we got the greatest picture of Kresta. We just have a print so be sure to look at it next time you come over.
We then had the option to go horse back riding, but by now its been raining for about 6 hours and we're soaked, so we figure we can ride horses with doc Taylor if we really wanted to so we decided to take the "carraige ride" to the hot springs. The carraige consisted of a John Deer tractor pulling us in a special school bus with no windows, and it wasn't your typical ride. You had to hold on for dear life as the bus went through hole after hole and bounced around for about 20 minutes. But we did finally make it to the hot springs which would have been great except for the freezing rain. Even in the hotest spring we were freezing. This is a picture of the spring - and all the rain.
On the way back on our carraige ride we decided we couldn't just sit in the rain again, so we got some poncho's....
The rain and activities spent us for the day....so back to the hotel and early to bed we went.
The next day (wed) I really wanted to scuba dive, but it's been a while since I dove and I didn't have my ace partner Doc Taylor with me...so I decided to do a little refresher in the pool.
After that we had lofty plans of hiking or kyaking, but we were so beat from the day before that it was more lounging by the pool and a good nap.
Oh...and I started reading that vampire series by Stephanie Meyer....and got totally sucked in. I read the first book in 24 hours and I think Kresta was a little neglected. That night though she decided to jump on the bed...because that's what you do at hotels....but the floor in our room was tile and the frame was a little flimsy, so....
we broke the bed. We had to call at like 11 pm to have them come fix it, but the guy only jerry rigged it, so it immediately broke again. The next day while we were gone though they came and fixed it for real. On thursday we got a touch of what Kresta likes to call "Monkey Butt". I think for me it was way too much fruit. But how can you pass up fresh fruit you didn't have to cut up yourself. So by the afternoon we finally got our Immodium kicked in and so we decided to go to Coco beach to do a little shopping. Thats the problem with staying at an all inclusive resort that is totally secluded, no shopping.
We took this picture for Meredith, Rachel and Thea. The fried chicken place is right next to the medical clinic...so when you get your heart attack you can just go next door!
Then we went to the grocery store for some snackage and we found this....
The mega big cola - 3.1 liters of sugary goodness.On Friday we decided we wanted to go surfing...which accoring to the locals is 2 hours away. So we decided to rent a car for an adventure. Kresta asked for a "piquinito" car - which is a mini car, and it was awesome.
We got lost and ended up at the 4 seasons resort....It was super nice and we didn't even go inside the resort, but they had the coolest sculptures ourside
So we finally figured out where we were supposed to be going and headed out to surf. We found a cool place called the Iguana Surf Shop and we signed up for surfing lessons.
We were pretty good at surfing and managed to get up several time. However, I didn't quite get the grasp of things until I already had a significant board rash going on my legs.
Luckily I went to the local farmacia and got some steriod cream. Now I just have scabs on my thighs...fun times. On the way back to our hotel we watched the sunset from a great beach
So, I finally got to go scuba diving on Saturday. It was great and I met a lot of fun people. Kresta met me at the beach after and took some great pics.
Then we hung around the pool some more and had a fun time meeting the locals....
The last day Kresta got up to watch the sun rise.....
The trip back was a little long, but we survived. Unfortunately for Kresta she had to go to work at 9 the next morning, but I got the day off. We had a great time and good a pretty good tan, but our livers do need to recover a little :)
